Two headline features in one release. One makes the first screen you see more useful; the other makes the most repetitive job in the app a lot less repetitive.
In this release: a rebuilt dashboard, Snap-a-Fuel-Pic (beta) for pump and odometer photos, automatic meter updates, and a fix for a permissions edge case.
What's New
The new dashboard
The dashboard used to be a table. It's now a set of widgets built to answer two questions the moment you arrive: what needs attention, and what should I do next?
- Needs attention: tiles for the machines that want a look, including the ones that are down.
- Upcoming: reminders that are due soon.
- Recent activity: what your team has been logging.
- Your equipment: a grid of favorites, one tap from their details.
- Log something: quick actions for the things you do every day.
- Seasonal tips: a strip with a timely heads-up, like blades and fresh oil for mower season or batteries and fuel stabilizer before a hard freeze.
Widgets that have nothing to show stay out of the way, so a small garage doesn't get a page full of empty boxes. Suggestions to set up reminders can be dismissed with one click (“Got it — I'll stop suggesting these”), and your dashboard choices are saved to your account.
Snap-a-Fuel-Pic (beta)
At the pump, photograph the pump's display and Garage131 reads the total cost, the gallons, and the price per gallon and fills them into your fuel record. Do the same with your odometer to fill in the mileage. It even sanity-checks the math — gallons times price should match the total.
You get tips for a good shot (get close, avoid glare, keep all the digits in frame), and you review what was read before anything goes into your log. If it finds more than one possible reading, pick the best value for each field or take all the values from one reading. It's a beta, so some photos won't read; when that happens it tells you, and you can always type the numbers in yourself. Curious why we sweat the fuel details? Meters that keep up
When you record a service or a fuel record, the machine's miles or hours meter now updates to match, so the number on the machine card isn't a month behind.
Fixes
- Fixed a permissions edge case where the dashboard tried to show status and notifications for machines you don't have access to.
- A round of tuning across the dashboard widgets.
