Our last release rebuilt how you record service and describe your machines. This one gives parts and purchases the same treatment, teaches Garage131 what each machine runs on, and makes photos easier to add.
In this release: redesigned part and purchase pages, a matching service record header, a power source for every machine, galleries with room for nine photos, photos when you create a part, private part ratings, a caption for your QR code, and camera buttons in more places.
What's New
A new home for every part
The part page is now a single screen where everything is editable in place: tap any value, change it, and save from the bar that appears at the bottom. If you try to leave with unsaved changes, Garage131 asks first. Cards show the machines a part has been used on (with quantity and cost), its purchases, notes, stock and cost, sharing, and photos. An At a glance panel totals what you've bought and used, what you've spent, and when you last bought it. The actions panel lets you record a purchase, link the part to an existing purchase, or add it to a list.
Purchases, redesigned to match
The purchase page gets the same layout. Purchase date, supplier, and invoice number sit at the top, and each line item lets you adjust its quantity and unit price while the grand total updates as you type. Part names link straight to the part page, and receipts have their own section with the same photo tools you'll find everywhere else.
Service records get the matching header
The service record page picked up the same header and photo row. Images sit in a compact strip that collapses to a count and a preview, and you can select several photos to delete at once. On a phone, a slim header with the job title, machine, and date stays with you as you scroll.
Tell Garage131 what a machine runs on
Machines now have a Power source: Gas / Diesel, Hybrid, Electric (EV), or None / Don't Track. Leave it on Auto and Garage131 guesses from the machine's type and make, and the form shows what Auto currently means so there are no surprises. A laptop or a table saw doesn't need a fuel log, and now it doesn't get one: the Fuel History tab is hidden for machines that don't burn fuel. If a machine already has fuel records, the tab stays so no history is ever hidden. Like other machine fields, Power source can be hidden in your preferences.
Profile photos, and room for nine
Machine photos now live in one scrolling strip with the profile photo first and clearly badged. Tap Make profile on any other photo, or set it from the full-size viewer. Galleries grew from five photos to nine, counted as 3/9 so you can see how much room is left, and the profile photo counts toward the nine. The first photo you add becomes the profile photo automatically, and if you delete the profile photo, the oldest remaining one takes its place.
Add photos while you create a part
The new part form has a Photos section. Add up to nine photos of the part or its packaging, or take one with your phone's camera, and they upload as soon as the part is created. No more saving first and coming back to attach pictures.
Rate your parts, privately
Give any part one to five wrenches so you remember which brand held up and which one to never buy again. Ratings are private: only you can see yours. If you'd rather not see them, turn off Show part ratings in Preferences. That only hides the ratings, so the ones you've saved are still there if you change your mind.
A caption for your QR code
The QR code on your printed service records can now carry a caption underneath, up to 80 characters, such as “Doug’s Shady Driveway Repair” It's a small thing that helps customers know where the code leads, especially when it points to a payment page. Set it in the Branding section of Settings, next to the QR code address.
Camera buttons in more places
On phones, an Open Camera button now shows up in more of the places you attach photos, including service records, machine photos, and part and purchase images, so snapping the receipt or the part is right there when you need it.
Improvements
- A machine's miles and hours now keep up with you. Save a fuel-up or service record with a higher reading and the machine's meter is raised to match. Backfilling an older record with a lower reading never winds the meter backward.
Fixes
- In the Parts History tab on a machine, part names and service links now click through to the part and the service record.
