Last week we rebuilt the part and purchase pages. This release makes the parts list easier to narrow down, gives shared parts a way to stay accurate, and tidies up the menu. We also did a round of behind-the-scenes work on sign-in and security.
In this release: filters for the parts list, a reorganized menu, a new Contact page and an updated roadmap, ways to report, retire, and replace shared parts, sign-in that stays in the organization you picked, a fix for reservation times, and a reminder on how to install Garage131 on your phone.
What's New
Filter the parts list
The parts list has a Filters button. Filter by stock (In stock, Low stock, Out of stock, or Needs reorder), hide your own, organization, or public parts, and if you rate your parts, show only the ones with a certain number of wrenches or the ones you haven't rated yet. Each active filter shows up as a chip above the list. Tap a chip to remove it, or clear them all at once. Your filters stay put while you move around the app.
A menu that's easier to find your way around
The main menu has been reordered around what you do most. Your workspace comes first, organization tools (Members, Audit log, Shared machines, Calendar feeds, and Switch organization) are grouped under Organization, and the Organization section opens and closes in place so the menu doesn't run off the bottom of a phone screen.
A Contact page for everyone
Have a question, a bug to report, or an idea? The new Contact page is for anything, not just sales. It's linked from the menu and the footer of every page, next to our new Facebook, Instagram, and X links. If you're asking about plans, the Vehicle Reservation System, or a team rollout, Talk to sales is still there. We've also updated the roadmap so you can see what's coming next.
Keeping shared parts accurate
When you share a part with your organization or make it public, it locks so nobody's history changes out from under them. Now there are good ways to deal with a shared part that's wrong or no longer made:
- Report a problem. Anyone who can see a part can report it from the part's actions. Pick what's wrong, add details, and optionally suggest the correct values. Reports on organization parts go to your organization's admins.
- Retire a part. If you own a shared part that's been discontinued or was entered wrong, retire it with a reason and, if you like, point to its replacement. Retired parts don't show up in part pickers anymore, but every purchase and service record that used them stays intact. They're marked Retired, with a link to the replacement.
- Public parts get a quick review. Making a part public now submits it for review. It shows as Pending review until it's approved. If it's sent back, you'll see a note about what to fix.
Improvements
- If you belong to more than one organization, Garage131 now keeps you in the one you chose when it quietly renews your sign-in, instead of switching you back to your default.
- We tightened security across the platform. Sign-in sessions now renew more often behind the scenes, so you won't notice anything different. If sign-up is attempted too many times in a row, you'll get a clear “please wait a minute” message.
Fixes
- Vehicle reservation times now show and save correctly no matter what time zone your phone or computer is set to.
Reminder: Put Garage131 on Your Home Screen
If you use Garage131 on your phone, install it. It opens full screen from its own icon, with no browser address bar, so it feels like any other app. Go to Settings › Preferences and scroll to the bottom. Tap Install on Home Screen, and you're done.
On an iPhone or iPad, tap How to Install on iPhone / iPad for the steps. Open Garage131 in Safari, tap the Share button, then choose Add to Home Screen. Installing doesn't give Garage131 any extra access to your phone. It's the same site, just without the browser around it.
